Applications Breakdown

UFO High Bay LED Fixtures — Round, low-profile fixtures for high-ceiling commercial spaces. Best for warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, and gyms with 15–40 foot ceilings. Common wattages: 100W (replaces 250W metal halide), 150W (replaces 400W MH), 200W (replaces 500W MH), 240W (replaces 750W MH). Selectable CCT is now standard.

Linear High Bay LED Fixtures — Long, narrow fixtures for aisles, work zones, and warehouses with rack systems. Linkable end-to-end for continuous coverage. Better than UFO when shadow gaps between rack rows would be a problem on the floor.

LED Canopy Lights — Square or rectangular fixtures for covered outdoor or semi-outdoor spaces with weather exposure. Gas station canopies, parking garage decks, drive-through windows, and covered loading docks. IP65 minimum and vandal-resistant construction.

LED Troffer & Panel Fixtures — Flat panels for drop-ceiling installations in offices, retail, classrooms, and healthcare. 2x4 troffers are the most common, followed by 2x2 and 1x4. Selectable CCT and wattage make them flexible for mixed-tenant buildings.

Specs That Matter

Lumens. Actual light output. Plan around lumens per square foot for commercial spaces, not fixture wattage. A 20,000-lumen UFO high bay covers different square footage at 15 feet than at 30 feet.

Wattage. Power consumption. Lower wattage at equivalent lumens means a more efficient fixture. Selectable wattage SKUs (e.g., 100/150/200W via on-board switch) let one fixture cover multiple applications.

CCT (Color Temperature). Measured in Kelvin. 3000K (warm) for retail and hospitality. 4000K (neutral) for offices and general commercial. 5000K (cool daylight) for warehouses, manufacturing, and high-visibility spaces.

Voltage. Most commercial fixtures run 120–277V or 277–480V. Confirm site voltage before ordering. Warehouses typically run 277V. Offices and retail typically 120V.

IP Rating. IP20 for dry indoor. IP65 minimum for moisture exposure. IP66 for direct water.

CRI. Color rendering accuracy. 80+ for commercial. 90+ for retail and hospitality where product or food color matters.

Dimming. 0–10V is the commercial dimming standard. Confirm dimmer-to-driver compatibility before ordering. Most LED callbacks come from mismatched dimmers.

Installation Considerations

Most commercial indoor LED fixtures are designed for retrofit-compatible installation. Common mount types:

  • Hook mount. Pendant chain installation. Typical for UFO high bays in warehouses.
  • Chain or cable mount. Adjustable height. Common on linear high bays.
  • Surface mount. Direct ceiling attachment. Used on canopies, troffers, and shop lights.

For most retrofits, fixtures mount on existing ceiling structure without rewiring, provided the wiring is in good condition and rated for the fixture load.
