Commercial LED Cylinder Lights

Shop commercial LED cylinder lights for architectural interiors, entrances, covered exterior areas and other projects that call for a compact fixture with controlled light distribution.

Cylinder lights give you the focused look of an architectural fixture without requiring a traditional recessed installation. Choose surface mounting for a clean ceiling-mounted installation or a suspended configuration when the design calls for the fixture to drop into the space.

Lighting Pro Plus offers selectable LED cylinder lighting that gives contractors more flexibility with output and color temperature without changing fixtures.

Why Choose an LED Cylinder Light?

Cylinder lights make sense when you want more presence and beam control than a typical downlight, but don't want a large decorative fixture.

They're especially useful when the ceiling doesn't lend itself to recessed lighting. Surface-mounted cylinders install below the ceiling, eliminating the need to recess the fixture body into the ceiling cavity.

The cylindrical housing also creates a distinct architectural look that works well in commercial interiors, entrances, corridors and other finished spaces where the fixture itself is meant to be seen.

For projects that call for a suspended fixture, a cylinder can bring the light source down from a higher ceiling while maintaining the same clean form.

Surface-Mount vs. Suspended Cylinder Lights

The right mounting method comes down to the ceiling and the design of the space.

Surface-Mount Cylinder Lights
Surface-mounted cylinders attach directly at the ceiling and keep the fixture visible below the finished surface. They're a good option when recessed installation isn't practical or when the project calls for the architectural look of an exposed cylinder.

Suspended Cylinder Lights
Suspended cylinders drop the fixture below the mounting point. This can work well with higher ceilings, open-ceiling environments or architectural spaces where the design calls for the fixture to sit closer to the area being illuminated.

Check the mounting requirements and installation instructions before ordering, especially when you're working with an existing ceiling or junction-box condition.

Selectable Output & Color Temperature

One cylinder fixture may need to work in very different spaces. Selectable output and CCT give you some room to adjust without ordering a different fixture for every condition.

Choose a lower output where less light is needed or step up the lumen setting for spaces that call for more illumination.

Selectable CCT gives you similar flexibility with appearance. Warmer settings such as 2700K and 3000K can work well in hospitality and architectural spaces, while 3500K and 4000K are common choices for commercial interiors. 5000K provides a cooler appearance when the project calls for it.

For contractors, that flexibility can mean fewer fixture configurations to keep track of—and fewer surprises when the final field conditions don't quite match the plans.

Choose the Right Beam Angle

Output isn't the only thing that determines how a cylinder light performs. Beam angle changes where that light goes.

A narrower beam concentrates the light into a tighter area. A wider beam spreads it across more of the space.

That matters when you're using cylinder lights over entrances, circulation areas, architectural features or other locations where the fixture needs to do more than simply put light on the floor.

If you're working from a lighting plan, check the specified distribution before ordering. If you're developing the layout, we can help determine the output, beam and spacing that make sense for the project.

Where LED Cylinder Lights Work Well

Offices & Commercial Interiors
Cylinder lights can provide general or supplemental lighting in reception areas, conference spaces, corridors and other finished commercial interiors where an architectural fixture is preferred over a standard recessed downlight.

Hospitality
Hotels, restaurants and similar spaces often use cylinder fixtures where both the light and the appearance of the fixture matter. Selectable CCT makes it easier to coordinate the lighting with the finish package and overall design.

Retail & Showrooms
Controlled beam options make cylinder lights useful for general and focused lighting in retail environments, showrooms and other customer-facing spaces.

Entrances & Covered Exterior Areas
Wet-location-rated cylinder fixtures can extend the same architectural look to appropriate exterior and transitional spaces. Always verify the fixture rating against the actual exposure and installation requirements.

Corridors & Common Areas
Surface-mounted cylinders are another option for corridors, lobbies and common spaces where recessed installation isn't practical or where the fixture is intended to become part of the finished ceiling design.

Cylinder Lights vs. Recessed Downlights

Both can provide focused ceiling lighting, but they create a very different finished look.

A recessed downlight sits primarily within the ceiling, leaving a minimal profile below the finished surface. A surface-mounted cylinder intentionally extends below the ceiling and becomes part of the architecture.

Cylinder lights can also offer more flexibility where recessed installation isn't possible, and suspended configurations give designers another option for higher or open ceilings.

If the project calls for the cleanest possible ceiling, start with recessed downlights. If the fixture is meant to be seen—or the ceiling doesn't work for a recessed installation—a cylinder may be the better fit.

Get the Fixture and Distribution Right Before You Order

With architectural lighting, fixture appearance is only part of the decision. Mounting, lumen output, color temperature and beam distribution all affect the finished result.

Lighting Pro Plus can help contractors and project teams work through those details before material hits the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

An LED cylinder light is an architectural fixture with a cylindrical housing that mounts at or below the ceiling. Depending on the fixture, cylinders can be surface mounted or suspended.

They're used in commercial interiors and other architectural spaces where both the light distribution and appearance of the fixture matter.

A recessed downlight sits primarily within the ceiling. A surface-mounted cylinder extends below the ceiling and becomes a more visible part of the finished space.

Cylinder fixtures can also be useful where the ceiling doesn't allow for a traditional recessed installation.

Some can. A suspended cylinder drops below the ceiling or mounting point, which can be useful with higher ceilings, open-ceiling spaces or architectural designs that call for a pendant-style installation.

Check the mounting options for the specific fixture before ordering.

Some cylinder fixtures are rated for wet locations and can be used in appropriate exterior applications.

Always verify the environmental rating and installation requirements of the specific fixture against the actual project conditions.

It depends on the space. 2700K and 3000K provide a warmer appearance, while 3500K and 4000K are common in many commercial interiors. 5000K provides a cooler appearance.

A selectable-CCT fixture lets you make that choice during installation.

Narrower beams concentrate light into a smaller area, while wider beams spread the light over more space.

The right distribution depends on mounting height, fixture spacing and what you're trying to illuminate. For larger projects, a lighting layout can help determine the appropriate beam and spacing.

Some are. Check the fixture specifications for the dimming method and control requirements before ordering.
