Frequently Asked Questions
IP65 is the minimum for outdoor rain and dust exposure. IP66 for direct rain or hose-down environments. IP67 for the most demanding wet environments. Under-specifying IP rating is the most common way outdoor fixtures fail prematurely and lose warranty coverage.
Photocells detect ambient daylight. They turn the fixture on at dusk and off at dawn. Built-in photocells are factory-installed. Twist-lock photocells (NEMA socket) mount separately. Either way, they eliminate the need for timers or manual switching.
Dusk-to-dawn LED wall packs run continuously from sunset to sunrise at full output. Motion-activated wall packs run at reduced output (often 30%) and ramp to full when motion is detected. Motion-activated saves more energy in low-traffic areas. Dusk-to-dawn provides constant security illumination.
In most cases, yes. Confirm three things: tenon diameter (typically 2 3/8" or 3"), pole load rating, and pole height vs. fixture distribution pattern. Account reps can verify compatibility from a fixture schedule.
BUG stands for Backlight, Uplight, Glare. It's a three-number system that measures how much light spills outside the intended area. Lower numbers = less light pollution. B0-U0-G0 is the strictest. Many municipalities and HOAs require minimum BUG ratings.
Most of our commercial outdoor catalog is DLC listed and eligible for utility rebates. Look for the DLC badge on the product page. Our team can pull DLC certification letters and energy spec sheets for rebate applications on request.
