2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Process and fulfill orders, including shipping notifications and delivery updates
- Manage your account and provide access to order history, saved quotes, and the Business Center portal
- Respond to customer service inquiries, technical support requests, and quote submissions
- Process rebate documentation requests and provide DLC certification letters
- Verify eligibility for trade pricing and Business Center access
- Send transactional emails, including order confirmations, shipping updates, and warranty registration notices

3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Payment processors | To authorize and process transactions. These transactions are governed by their own PCI-DSS compliance programs. |
| Shipping carriers | To share name, address, and order details necessary to fulfill and track your shipment. |
| Cloud infrastructure providers | To support hosting, storage, and database services operating under data processing agreements. |
| Analytics platforms | To use aggregated or pseudonymized usage data for site performance and marketing analytics, such as Google Analytics. |
| Marketing platforms | To use email address and behavioral data for email marketing where you have opted in, such as Klaviyo or Mailchimp. |
| Legal authorities | When required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of Lighting Pro Plus, our customers, or the public. |
| Business transfers | In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, where the successor entity agrees to honor this policy. |
| SMS/text messaging platforms | To send text messages you have opted in to receive under the Marketing SMS Program (via our messaging platform, Klaviyo) or the Support SMS Program (via your account manager's phone system). Your phone number and text-messaging consent records are not shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes. |
4. Cookies & Tracking
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to keep you logged in, remember cart contents, and understand how visitors use the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling certain cookies may affect site functionality.
| Cookie Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Session management, cart, authentication | Session |
| Functional | Saved preferences, language, recently viewed products | Up to 1 year |
| Analytics | Page views, traffic sources, user behavior, including Google Analytics | Up to 2 years |
| Marketing | Ad attribution, retargeting pixels, including Google Ads and Meta Pixel | Up to 90 days |
Because certain cookies described above — including advertising and retargeting cookies used for ad attribution and retargeting pixels such as Google Ads and Meta Pixel — may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law, we provide a cookie preference banner when you first visit our site and a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in our website footer, both of which let you limit or opt out of this use. We also recognize and honor browser-based opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control (GPC).
5. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
| Data Type | Retention Period |
|---|---|
| Account data | Duration of account + 3 years after closure |
| Order records | 7 years for tax and accounting requirements |
| Support tickets | 3 years from resolution |
| Marketing preferences | Until opt-out or account closure |
| Analytics data | 26 months, based on Google Analytics default |
| Warranty registration | Duration of warranty period + 2 years |
| SMS consent records | Until opt-out or account closure, or as needed to demonstrate compliance with applicable law |
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@lightingproplus.com.
| Right | Description |
|---|---|
| Access | Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. |
| Correction | Request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected. |
| Deletion | Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements. |
| Portability | Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format. |
| Objection | Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including direct marketing. |
| Restriction | Request that we limit how we use your data in certain circumstances. |
| Opt-out of sale/sharing | California residents may opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, including for cross-context behavioral advertising, under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell personal data, but our use of advertising and retargeting cookies (see Section 4) may constitute “sharing” under California law. You may opt out via the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in our website footer or by enabling a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in your browser, which we honor. Residents of Colorado, Virginia, and Connecticut have similar rights to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and certain profiling under the Colorado Privacy Act, Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, and Connecticut Data Privacy Act, respectively. Residents of other states may have similar rights under applicable state law; contact us to exercise them. |
We will respond to verified requests within the timeframes required by applicable law (generally 30–45 days). We may need to verify your identity before processing a request.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including:
- TLS encryption for all data in transit
- Encrypted storage for sensitive account and payment data
- Access controls limiting employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
- Payment card data handled exclusively by PCI-DSS compliant processors — we never store full card numbers
- Regular security assessments of our infrastructure and third-party providers
If we discover a breach involving the unauthorized acquisition of personal information, we will notify affected individuals within a reasonable time, and in no event more than forty-five (45) days after discovery, consistent with Wisconsin Statute § 134.98 and other applicable state breach-notification laws.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@lightingproplus.com.
8. Third-Party Links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites, including manufacturer product pages, the DLC Qualified Products List, the DSIRE database, and shipping carrier tracking portals. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.
9. Children’s Privacy
Our website and services are intended for business and professional use by adults. As a matter of our own business policy — and not a requirement of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), whose parental-consent requirements apply to children under the age of 13 (15 U.S.C. § 6501 et seq.) — we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor without parental consent, we will delete it promptly.
Contact us at privacy@lightingproplus.com if you believe we have received data from a minor.
10. SMS/Text Messaging Communications
We offer two separate text messaging (SMS) programs. Enrolling in one program does not enroll you in the other.
Marketing SMS Program. If you sign up on our website to receive marketing text messages, we collect your mobile phone number and send you promotional messages (such as sales, new-product announcements, and special offers) through our messaging platform, Klaviyo. We only enroll you in this program after a double opt-in process: submitting your number through our website sign-up form, and then confirming by replying to a text message we send you. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying “STOP,” and you may reply “HELP” for assistance. Consent to receive marketing text messages is never a condition of any purchase.
Support SMS Program. If you provide your mobile phone number to us or to your Lighting Pro Plus account manager, and you consent — whether by signing up on our website, giving verbal consent to your account manager, or texting your account manager’s number directly — you may receive text messages related to your order status, account, and support tickets (for example, shipment notifications, order updates, and responses to support requests). Some of these messages are sent automatically based on the status of your order or account; others are sent directly by your account manager. These messages are informational and transactional in nature and are not used for promotional marketing. You may opt out of Support SMS messages at any time by replying “STOP” to any message or by notifying your account manager, without affecting your ability to place orders or receive other communications from us.
Data Use & Sharing. Your mobile phone number and text-messaging opt-in/consent information are used only to operate these two programs and are not shared with third parties for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We retain records of your consent (including the date, method, and program) for as long as required to demonstrate compliance with applicable law.
Applicable Law. These programs are administered in accordance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), Federal Communications Commission rules, CTIA messaging guidelines, and Wisconsin’s telemarketing and do-not-call statute (Wis. Stat. § 100.52), among other applicable laws.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page
- Post a notice on our homepage or in your account dashboard for 30 days
- Send an email notification to registered account holders for significant changes
Your continued use of the site after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
